A recent report by the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) urges governments at all levels to create easier access to data. The report acknowledges that while most data is already readily available, governments need to make a better effort at making the data readily accessible. Says Dugan Petty, Oregon, CIO and co-chair of NASCIO's Enterprise Architecture & Governance Committee, "Citizens shouldn't be expected to know what agency is responsible for creating publicly available data." Transparency can have numerous benefits to any government agency, it provides another means of engaging citizens, has the ability to develop new business ideas or activities, and most importantly, creates greater government accountability. Many of the leading governments we're working with today are already going down this path. One of the report's key prequisites for transparency are for departments to work together to provide complete organizational data which AMANDA 5 helps to facilitate. Another prerequisite is to provide citizens a single access point for data, something AMANDA Public Portal accomplishes by integrating data from multiple departments to your web portal. These products are bolstered by our professional services team who possess deep experience with leading agencies in achieving transparency.
