AMANDA Enterprise Assessment Will Help Austin, Texas Recognize Opportunities for Improvement, Provide Recommendations, and Identify Requirements for Implementing AMANDA 5.
Austin, Texas – July 25, 2011 - CSDC Systems Inc. - a leading provider of business process automation solutions for government agencies, and the City of Austin, Texas have announced plans to conduct a comprehensive Enterprise Assessment of its current use of AMANDA. One of the main goals of the Enterprise Assessment will be to identify opportunities for improvement in its current use of AMANDA so that the City can meet its future requirements.
Home to many musicians and live music venues, Austin is the capital of the U.S. state of Texas. Located in central Texas, it is the 15th largest City in the United States and is among the fastest growing cities in the U.S, with a population of just over 790,000.
The City of Austin first implemented AMANDA in 2006 using a phased roll-out on a departmental basis and processed over 38,000 permits that year with 43,000 processed in the following year. AMANDA was deployed first in the City’s Health Department, followed by Code Enforcement, Building Permitting, Contractor Registrations and Inspections, Planning, and Right of Way. AMANDA was also extended to the Environmental, Fire, and Public Works departments. In total, AMANDA enables the City to offer 55 distinct services and boasts over 850 users.
However, over the years, Austin’s business rules and overall requirements had evolved and it soon became apparent that change would be necessary. AMANDA 5 - CSDC’s next generation, web-based software - was discussed as the enabling platform that might make these changes possible, and the AMANDA Enterprise Assessment would be the correct course of action to explore this option.
Through a series of onsite and offsite interviews with staff, management, and key stakeholders from various business units and IT, the Enterprise Assessment will identify management’s future vision of their business units and provide recommendations on achieving those goals and objectives efficiently and effectively through AMANDA and related technologies.
A significant part of the Enterprise Assessment will be to help the City assess the impact and benefits of migrating to AMANDA 5. Jurisdictions that have upgraded to AMANDA 5 see improvements in five critical areas:
Performance management
Operational excellence
Transparency
Personalization
Interoperability
As part of the Enterprise Assessment, CSDC consultants and advisory experts will develop functional, technical, and upgrade recommendations, as well as implementation plans. CSDC will also review the City’s current business rules, folder setup, reports, interfaces, inspections, web access, and security. The end result will be a customized plan of action that the City of Austin can use to help it achieve all of its current and future business objectives in the most efficient and effective manner possible.
