Columbus, OH - CSDC is pleased to announce that the State of Ohio’s Department of Commerce went live with Phase 1 of their AMANDA implementation on Tuesday, February 16. The Department of Commerce is implementing AMANDA in the Division of Industrial Compliance and Labor (DIC) to automate all of their inspection, permitting, licensing and certification processes. AMANDA will help DIC enforce compliance with the State’s regulatory requirements by automating the processes of the Bureau of Operations and Maintenance and the Bureau of Building Code Compliance. The Division’s 230 users will use AMANDA to process the over 11,000 permits and 250,000 documents (certificates and letters) generated by DIC annually. Boiler Contractors, Operators, and Inspectors; Ski/Tramways; and Roller Rinks The focus of this first phase was DIC’s Bureau of Operations and Maintenance. The Bureau oversees critical systems such as boiler operations and maintenance. In addition, the Bureau is responsible for the regulation of bedding, upholstered furniture, and stuffed toy products. AMANDA is being used to help the bureau manage all of their inspections, as well as the licensing and registration of boiler contractors, operators and inspectors; ski/tramways; and roller rinks. Consolidation of IT Systems and Data with AMANDA In implementing AMANDA, DIC is consolidating the six independent databases that existed in their legacy system into a single database of shared Master Data. This first phase included the conversion of historical and active transactional data of the Bureau of Operations and Maintenance. This conversion was done such that the Bureau is able to continue operations without downtime. Moving forward this consolidation gives DIC the opportunity to leverage process similarities across functional verticals to identify process efficiencies to reduce processing times and costs. GIS Integration and Routing Unique to this implementation is the integration of AMANDA with the State's GIS system for inspection routing..Master Data stored in AMANDA and the State’s GIS system, are leveraged to ensure that the more than 100,000 inspections the state conducts annually are routed efficiently. Up Next - Elevators, Building Code Compliance, and Online Services This first phase of Ohio’s AMANDA implementation will provide DIC with immediate efficiencies that will have a direct impact on their ability to serve their citizens. Looking forward to subsequent phases of the implementation, DIC will extend AMANDA to their remaining inspection, licensing and certification processes. In addition, the implementation of AMANDA Public Portal will provide citizens and businesses with an online point of access for all permit and license applications and renewals.
