Orlando, FL – Florida’s Orange County (population 1.1 million) went live this week with AMANDA 5 in the Planning, Zoning and Development Engineering Divisions. With just under 100 users, this is the first of five phases in a project that will see AMANDA 5 used as Orange County’s Land Development Management System (LDMS).

The consolidation and standardization of Orange County’s data played a large role in this first phase. Information previously stored in multiple internal applications has been consolidated in AMANDA 5. This consolidation, along with the integration with Orange County’s GIS system, Latitude Geographic's GeoCortex, will streamline and standardize the county’s planning review process.

By integrating GeoCortex with AMANDA 5, Orange County can now provide each department with a full spatial representation of all land development activity in Orange County. These visual tools allow the county’s users to access data for all nearby commercial or residential projects related to an area. Users can also efficiently communicate with citizens about land development projects or changes by simply selecting a parcel from the GIS application to automatically generate documents or PDFs for correspondence.

Moving forward, the multi-phased approach will see the LDMS expanded to handle:

• Residential, Commercial and Underground Permitting,
• Inspections,
• Document Management,
• Contractor Licensing,
• Public Works and
• Utilities.

With AMANDA 5, Orange County’s new Land Development Management System will enable the efficient sharing of data between departments, provide access to the County’s historical records and be scalable to meet Orange County’s future needs.
